Makinde emerges PDP flag bearer after polling 1040 votes to defeat Gbolarunmi

## After polling a total of 1,040 votes to defeat his only opponent who polled 2 votes, Oyo state Governor Seyi Makinde has emerged the Governorship flag bearer of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming general elections 

The primary election conducted by the Senator Ben Obi Governorship primary committee and assisted by Alhaji Abdullahi Mai Basira which was held at the Lekan Salami sport complex, Adamasingba had delegates across the thirty three local government areas of the state in attendance

In his acceptance speech Governor Seyi Makinde pledged to fulfill all promises he had made to the party and people of Oyo state as well as work in strengthening the bond of unity by upholding the trust and confidence posed in him 

He also assured that he would reach out to his opponent, Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarunmi in the spirit of unity and work towards the emergence of a new beginning even as PDP intensified effort in rescuing Nigeria at the federal level 

Earlier, while addressing delegates before commencement of voting, Governor Makinde's opponent Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarunmi argued that the contest was a mere jamboree as suspected thugs allegedly loyal to Governor Seyi Makinde had chased out his delegates from the voting arena but thereafter acknowledged that the contest was necessary to deepen democratic norms in the party
