Following the conclusion of its National Convention in Nnewi, Anambra State, the Labour Party (LP) has announced a significant development concerning its 2027 presidential aspirations.
After the convention, the party released a statement outlining its decision to reserve the 2027 presidential ticket for Peter Obi, the LP's candidate in the 2023 elections. Additionally, Governor Otti of Abia State has been given the right of first refusal for the ticket.
The directive, signed by the re-elected National Chairman, Comrade Julius Abure, and National Secretary, Umar Faruk Ibrahim, aims to pave the way for a robust and competitive performance by the Labour Party in the upcoming elections.
The party emphasized that Peter Obi, a seasoned politician and former Governor of Anambra State, brings a valuable combination of experience and political savvy to the forefront, enhancing the party's electoral prospects.
Furthermore, the potential candidacy of Governor Otti is seen as a strategic move by the party to diversify its electoral approach and potentially attract a wider range of voters across the country.
