Drama As Hospital Shuns Sanwo-Olu’s Directive, Detains Mother Over Delivery Bill
Despite the state's mandate for all general hospitals and primary health centers to offer free antenatal care and child delivery services, both normal and cesarean sections, to expectant women who are residents of the state, Elizabeth Davis finds herself in a distressing situation.
Following the premature delivery of her baby at Ajeromi General Hospital in Ajegunle, Lagos State, the hospital has detained her due to her inability to pay a medical bill amounting to N323,000.
This move contradicts the government initiative aimed at providing relief to residents following the removal of fuel subsidy by the Federal Government.
Governor Sanwo-Olu had outlined plans for free delivery services, including cesarean sections, in government hospitals, alongside rebates on certain medications.
Sadly, the reality at Ajeromi General Hospital paints a different picture, as the mother and the infant's remains remain held until the outstanding medical bills are resolved.
