Lagos State Government debunks reports of Minimum Wage Increment to 70k

Contrary to recent media reports, the Lagos State Government has debunk the report of  minimum wage increase, despite misleading information circulating following the announcement of Eko Cares - a program designed to aid the underprivileged during challenging economic times.
According to Gbenga Omotosho, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu was misquoted as stating that a new minimum wage of N70,000 had been implemented. This is inaccurate, as the Governor actually highlighted that civil servants have been receiving the N35,000 wage mandated by the Federal Government since January.

To clarify further, those previously earning N35,000 are now getting N40,000, but no official announcement has been made regarding a new minimum wage of N70,000. Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed optimism about an impending new minimum wage for both the Federal and State Governments during his address.
His statement emphasized the governmental commitment to supporting public officers, noting the increase in earnings for those previously making N35,000. The Government reiterated its dedication to aiding its citizens during challenging times.
