Association of Cattle Dealers Oyo State Chapter Visits Ministry of Agriculture, Strikes Deal to Promote Animal Husbandry - Watchtower media 
The Chairman expressed deep gratitude to the executive Governor of Oyo state, Engineer Abiodun Oluseyi Makinde, The speaker Oyo state house of assembly Rt. Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, the deputy Speaker Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, the commissioner for Agriculture Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, Alhaji Taofeek Adio (Babaloja Onimalu of Oyo state) and Alhaja Seliat Ayodele
 (Iyaloja Onimalu of Ibadan land) For the support and contributions to the development and constitution of the new executives of the association.

The newly constituted executives of  the Association of Cattle Dealers, Oyo state chapter led by the state chairman , Alhaji Morufu Rabiu Ademola made a courtesy call on Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, the Honorable commissioner for Agriculture and rural development in Oyo state at his office at the Oyo state Secretariat.The team intimated the Hon. Commissioner of the developments and plans of  the association and requested his support to their activities.
The Chairman while speaking to pressmen after the meeting said they had an unprecedented fruitful discussions as the Hon commissioner gave his commitment to provide any support within the capacity of his office.

The association which cuts across all 33 local government areas of the state has now been divided in to three zones namely :

1) Ibadan / Ibarapa zone

2) Ã’kè Ogun zone 

3) Oyo / Fashola / Ogbomoso zone

The Chairman further disclosed that they had six requests placed before the commissioner which includes : 

1). The Commissioner and the ministry become familiar with the association and its members.

2). The association should be kept informed about issues related to cattle sales and rearing in the state.

3). The association members should be included in the market maintenance committees throughout the state.

4). Members should benefit from free drugs and vaccines for their cattle.

5). Members of the association should be selected for seminars and workshops related to the agricultural sector.

6). They informed the commissioner that they are not just sellers, but also have farms where they rear cattle. They also requested that the commissioner constitute a team to verify this claim.

Lastly, the commissioner made it known that the association will henceforth be recognized by the government through their executives and also promised to provide them with the remaining agricultural inputs, such as salt, disinfectants, and vaccines, immediately after the meeting.

He highlighted the economic impact the association could have on the state if fully supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and the Oyo State government, noting that it would be a significant benefit to the people. He emphasized that Oyo State has a vast expanse of land and the right climate for cattle rearing, which would strengthen the Southwest region's ability to produce enough cattle and reduce their dependence on the North.

Shortly after the meeting, the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Abiodun Fadeyi, and Hon. Rahaman Olorunpoto each separately addressed the executives and members of the Association of Cattle Dealers, Oyo State chapter, urging them to fully cooperate with the Ministry of Agriculture and to leverage the support of the Oyo State House of Assembly to achieve their desired goals.


Present at the meeting were the Honourable Commissioner for Agriculture, Barr. Olasunkanmi Olaleye, directors from the Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Morufu Rabiu Ademola (the new chairman from Akinyele LGA, the vice Chairman Alhaji Garba M Awal Vice Chairman,the woman leader, Prof.  Ola Davies, the state general secretary, Mr. Ganiyu Sodiq from Oyo West LGA, the state treasurer, Mr. Muhammed Sundiq from Atisbo LGA, and all zonal chairmen: Alhaji Dauda Yayi, Alhaji Ismail Muhammed, and Mr. Ismail Oyewo for Ibadan/Ibarapa, Ã’kè Ogun, and Oyo/Ogbomoso zones respectively and other exco members of all three zones.
