Breaking News: Interior Minister Reassures Nigerians on Federal Government’s Efforts Against Insecurity
Interior Minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo has reiterated the federal government’s commitment to tackling Nigeria’s security challenges, assuring citizens that top security officials are working tirelessly to address the issue. Speaking on *Channels Television’s Politics Today* on Tuesday, Tunji-Ojo emphasized that key figures, including National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, Minister of Defence Mohammed Badaru, and Chief of Defence Staff General Christopher Musa, “are losing sleep” over the country’s security situation.
“Nobody is sleeping; we are working,” said the minister. “This security issue is a major issue of national concern, and I will not sit here and refuse to take responsibility for the security of Nigerians on behalf of the President.”
Tunji-Ojo highlighted progress made since President Bola Tinubu’s administration took office, noting that threats from Boko Haram and ISWAP have been significantly reduced. He also acknowledged recent attacks in Sokoto and Kebbi states by a new terror group but urged Nigerians not to judge the administration solely by challenges faced.
“The President is sensitive to these issues,” he remarked, stressing that while there is still work to be done, the government is committed to ensuring the security of lives and property across Nigeria.
