Breaking News: Sanwo-Olu Swears in Rekiya Olufunke Hassan as New Onigbongbo LCDA Chairman
In a quiet ceremony at the State House, Alausa, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu officially swore in Rekiya Olufunke Hassan as the substantive chairman of Onigbongbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Hassan, who previously served as the council’s vice chairman, steps into the role following the recent passing of former chairman Oladotun Olakanle.
The 44-year-old Hassan took the oath of office in the presence of members of the state executive council, leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), and key officials from the Onigbongbo LCDA. Known for her commitment to community service, Hassan had previously served as the council’s supervisor for agriculture and social services.
Governor Sanwo-Olu commended Hassan's dedication to public service and urged her to continue her efforts in advancing development across Onigbongbo. Her path to the vice-chairmanship was originally paved by the passing of the former council chairman, Babatunde Oke, in 2020, leading to Olakanle’s appointment.
As she steps into the chairmanship, Hassan has promised to honor the legacy of her predecessors while driving forward new initiatives for growth and community welfare in Onigbongbo.
