Core Functions of the Nigeria Customs Service

• Collection of revenue (Import and Excise Duties) and proper accounting for the same.
• Prevention and suppression of smuggling activities to protect the nation’s economy.

Requirements

Basic Requirements:

• Must be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
• Must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
• Must have no criminal record or ongoing investigations.

Academic Requirements:

• Superintendent Cadre: University degree or HND with NYSC Discharge Certificate.
• Inspectorate Cadre: National Diploma (ND) or Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE).
• Customs Assistant Cadre: O’Level (WAEC or NECO).

Medical Requirements:

• Must be physically and mentally fit.
• Evidence of medical fitness from a recognized government hospital.
