Skales denies claim on reason for divorce
Nigerian singer Skales has refuted a viral social media post that falsely claimed he divorced his wife due to a comment she made about his music career.
The controversy began after an X user shared a quote, attributing it to the singer.
The post alleged Skales ended his marriage because his wife mocked his music in a comment, joining online critics.
The viral tweet read," “I divorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t regret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got angry.
"People cannot be mocking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying your bills and you join them.”
However, the artiste, taking to his X page on Tuesday, denied making such a statement.
“This is really evil of you that you would cook up such story and this is not fair. I have never made such statement and this is false… please stop spreading lies,” Skales wrote.
In 2022, the musician made headlines after releasing a diss track criticising his wife shortly after the death of his mother. He later issued a public apology for the outburst.
While the exact reasons behind the couple’s separation remain private, Skales' comments make it clear he is not willing to let false narratives gain traction.
