President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has ordered the immediate recruitment of 200 exceptional National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members into the federal civil service, in recognition of their outstanding service to the nation between 2020 and 2023.
The directive was announced on Tuesday during the NYSC Honours Award Ceremony held in Abuja. Representing the President at the event, the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Nkeiruka Onyejeocha, said each awardee would also receive a ₦250,000 cash reward.
In a move applauded by many, President Tinubu also approved automatic employment for 10 physically challenged ex-corps members who sustained injuries or disabilities while serving the country. He assured the honorees that their sacrifices would not be forgotten, noting that they embody the spirit of patriotism and national service.
“All awardees, including the physically challenged, will receive scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in any Nigerian university,” the President declared.
Praising the honorees, Tinubu said they represent the best of Nigerian youth individuals who have demonstrated patriotism, integrity, and excellence during their service year. He emphasized that their performance is a sign of hope for Nigeria’s future.
He further directed that the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation and the Federal Civil Service Commission begin immediate action on the employment process for the 200 awardees.
