The former vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, has described the newly formed coalition of opposition parties under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as a ploy to mislead Nigerians.
Baba-Ahmed made the remarks on Friday while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he openly dismissed the coalition’s relevance.
“They are deceiving us. Yes, I’m a Labour Party member for God’s sake. I still want Peter Obi to come back to the Labour Party and contest for the 2027 election,” he stated.
He noted that while politicians continue to promote alliances and political groupings, the focus should be on addressing more fundamental issues affecting Nigerians.
“There are more important things to discuss. Even this Buhari’s case that I talked about you led me into it but I don’t want to. There are more important things,” Datti added.
The senator’s remarks further highlight deepening cracks within Nigeria’s opposition politics, as the race towards the 2027 general elections begins to gather momentum.
