Breaking News: NCAA Slams 6-Month Flight Ban on Fuji Star KWAM 1 Over Unruly Airport Conduct
The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has imposed a six-month flight ban on renowned Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1 or K1 De Ultimate, over what it described as unruly and disruptive behavior at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
Announcing the decision during a press briefing on Thursday, Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, said the disciplinary action was taken in line with civil aviation regulations to uphold decorum and protect airport personnel.
According to Achimugu, the incident occurred on Tuesday at the domestic terminal during boarding, when the veteran artist spilled alcohol on an airline staff member, reportedly during a confrontation. The act was described as harassment and a breach of aviation conduct protocols.
“No individual, no matter how influential, is above the rules that govern civil aviation conduct. We are taking this step to ensure that standards are upheld and airport workers are protected from harassment,” Achimugu declared.
The NCAA said KWAM 1 will be prohibited from flying on any domestic airline within Nigeria for the next six months, a move many view as a strong message against VIP misconduct at airports.
Reactions have since trailed the ban, with members of the public and aviation stakeholders commending the authority for standing firm in defense of professional standards and worker dignity.
KWAM 1, a legendary figure in the Fuji music scene, is yet to issue an official response to the development as of the time of filing this report.
