The death of comedian Adetola Samad, better known as Sanku, has sparked a row over an unpaid car loan.

Sanku, who died in a car crash along Ogbomoso Road, Oyo State, on September 2, 2025, had reportedly bought a 2012 Lexus RX 350 from an Ilorin dealer for ₦25.4 million but was yet to complete payment.

Content creator Folorunsho Olayinka (Finest), who stood as guarantor, said the late comedian deposited ₦7m and had paid up to ₦12.28m before the accident, leaving a balance of about ₦13m. He denied claims linking him to Sanku’s death, stressing he only helped in the deal.

But a close friend alleged that Sanku was pressured to return the Lexus for a cheaper Toyota Venza, a move he resisted over fears of being cheated.

Sanku had proudly unveiled the SUV on TikTok in June, writing: “Alhamdulillah for life, congratulations Adetola.” Just three months later, the luxury ride became the centre of controversy following his tragic death.
