Breaking News: Traders Forced to Climb Stools as Massive Flooding Sacks Idumota, Lagos Island

Traders at Idumota Market on Lagos Island were on Tuesday forced to stand on stools inside their shops following massive flooding that swept through the busy commercial hub after heavy rainfall.

The flooding left large portions of the market waterlogged and disrupted business activities as shop owners rushed to protect their goods from damage. Some traders described the situation as both dangerous and embarrassing, while calling on the government to take immediate action.

According to eyewitnesses, flooding has become a recurring problem in Idumota, but the latest incident was particularly severe, forcing many traders to seek higher ground within their shops.

They appealed to the Lagos State Government to urgently repair and expand the drainage system in the area to prevent further destruction that could cripple the market.
