Enabulele Applauds Abiola Olajumoke on Gold Medal Triumph, Commends Team Edo Para Powerlifters
The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has congratulated Abiola Olajumoke for winning a gold medal at the First Yenagoa City Street-to-Street Hardcore Powerlifting Competition held in Bayelsa State from October 23 to 25, 2025.
Olajumoke, who represented Team Edo, was accompanied by her coach, Williams Omoroghomwan, to the chairman’s office in Benin City to present her medal and formally announce her victory.
In a statement issued by his media officer, Edoko Wilson Edoko, Hon. Enabulele described Olajumoke’s feat as “a huge source of pride for Edo State and a reflection of the state’s growing dominance in strength sports.”
“I am particularly thrilled that Abiola performed exceptionally well in all her lifts — a 190kg squat, 70kg bench press, and 170kg deadlift — for a total of 430kg, earning her the gold medal in her weight category,” Enabulele said.
He commended her discipline, resilience, and excellence, adding that her victory demonstrated what could be achieved through hard work and consistent support.
The competition, which featured athletes from across Nigeria, was organized by Erepadei Amos Sunday, founder and CEO of Sunny Power Athletic Barbell Global Initiative, and President of the World Powerlifting Nigeria Federation.
Enabulele also praised Team Edo athletes who represented Nigeria at the World Para Powerlifting Championship in Cairo, Egypt. He lauded Esther Oyema for winning two gold medals in the 55kg category and Tolulope Ogundolie for securing two silver medals in the 45kg class.
According to him, their achievements brought honor to Edo State and reaffirmed its commitment to grooming athletes capable of competing globally.
The chairman reiterated the Edo State Government’s commitment to sports development under Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo, noting that Edo remains determined to sustain its leadership as Nigeria’s sports hub.
He assured that the Sports Commission would continue to support athletes through training, welfare, and participation in national and international events.
Enabulele encouraged other athletes to emulate the dedication of the medalists, pledging that the Commission would keep identifying and nurturing talents that can make Edo and Nigeria proud.
