South-West Governors Huddle in Ibadan for High-Level Security Summit Amid Surge in Criminal Infiltration

Governors of the South-West region on Monday gathered in Ibadan for an emergency security summit as concerns heighten over the growing infiltration of suspected bandits and criminal elements into the zone.

The strategic meeting, taking place behind closed doors at the Governor’s Office, Agodi, is being hosted by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde. Present at the session are Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Ekiti State Governor Biodun Oyebanji. Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke is represented by his deputy.

Though details of the discussions remain confidential, sources indicate that the urgent gathering was called to assess emerging security threats and formulate a coordinated regional response. The governors are expected to review intelligence reports, strengthen inter-state collaboration, and reinforce measures aimed at preventing criminal migration from other parts of the country into the South-West.

More updates are expected at the end of the meeting.
