The Nigeria Police Force, Oyo State Command, on Friday, December 20, 2025, embarked on a Crime-Free Christmas Campaign and sensitization walk across Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, as part of efforts to ensure a peaceful yuletide season.
The exercise, under the command of the Commissioner of Police, CP Femi Aruna, commenced at the State Police Headquarters, Eleyele, before moving through major streets of the metropolis. The initiative was aimed at sending a strong warning to criminal elements that Oyo State would not serve as a safe haven for those intending to foment trouble during the festive period.
The Command assured residents that robust security measures had been put in place to guarantee safety throughout the Christmas and New Year celebrations. Members of the public were urged to go about their festivities without fear, as crime would be reduced to the barest minimum through increased police visibility, intensified patrols and intelligence-led operations.
The Police Command also noted that the yuletide season traditionally attracts an influx of visitors into the state to celebrate with their families.
In view of this, the Command said it had strengthened and re-engineered its security architecture to ensure that the relative peace and tranquillity for which Oyo State is known remain intact throughout the festive period and beyond.
