The political feud within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepened on Monday as FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, accused Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, of ingratitude, claiming he helped Makinde become governor despite the latter’s personal wealth.
Wike, a former Rivers State governor and influential PDP figure, told supporters that Makinde’s rise to power was made possible “despite your $1 million.” The remarks, delivered during a public engagement in Rivers State, have heightened tensions within the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The minister’s comment references Makinde’s earlier claims about his personal earnings before entering politics, highlighting Wike’s frustration over the governor’s perceived independence in decision-making.
This exchange follows months of public disagreements between the two leaders, particularly over party loyalty and alignment with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid. Makinde has consistently defended his political decisions as independent and principled, rejecting claims of indebtedness or betrayal.
