2027: Aborisade Storms Egbeda Ward 11, Rallies ADC Members for Grassroots Takeoff

There was excitement and a carnival‑like atmosphere on Friday as members of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ward 11, Egbeda Local Government Area of Oyo State, hosted the party’s governorship aspirant, Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade, during a courtesy visit to the ward.

Ward 11, one of the prominent wards in Egbeda Local Government, was agog with activities as party faithful, youths, women leaders and elders trooped out in large numbers to welcome the legal practitioner and politician, who described the ward as “home.”

Aborisade, who is contesting the 2027 governorship election under the platform of the ADC, was warmly received by the ADC Chairman for Egbeda local government, Mr. Funsho Owoade, party executives and enthusiastic members.

Speaking at the meeting, Aborisade said he deliberately chose to begin his grassroots consultation from Ward 11 because of his strong personal and political ties to the area.

“Charity begins at home. This is my ward, these are my people, and I believe it is only right that I come here first to appreciate you and seek your blessings and support,” he said.

He commended the ward leadership for keeping the party structure alive and active despite political challenges, noting that strong grassroots organization would be the backbone of ADC’s success in 2027.

“Ward 11 must be our reference point in Egbeda and in the entire state. When people talk about loyalty, commitment and discipline in ADC, they should point to this ward,” Aborisade added.

The governorship hopeful promised that his aspiration was anchored on purposeful leadership, people‑oriented governance and inclusive development across Oyo State, stressing that his ambition was not a personal project but a collective movement to rescue the state from poor governance.

He urged members to remain united, avoid internal divisions and intensify mobilisation at the polling unit level.

“Politics is won from the ward. If we get it right here, Egbeda will be secured, and if Egbeda is secured, Oyo State will follow,” he told the cheering crowd.

In his remarks, ADC local government Chairman Mr. Funsho Owoade expressed deep appreciation for the visit, describing it as a morale booster for party members.

“Your presence here today shows humility and respect for the grassroots. We are proud that one of our own is aspiring to govern Oyo State. Ward 11 stands solidly behind you,” Owoade said.

He assured Aborisade of the ward’s readiness to mobilize massively for ADC, adding that members would work tirelessly to ensure the party records a landslide victory in the area during the 2027 elections.

Other executives and stakeholders also took turns to pledge loyalty to the aspirant, calling on the state leadership of the party to provide a level playing ground for all contestants and to strengthen internal democracy.

The meeting featured goodwill messages, chants of solidarity, group photographs and informal interactions between Aborisade and party members, as he listened to their concerns and expectations regarding the future of the party and governance in the state.

The visit ended on a high note, with members expressing optimism that ADC, under credible leadership, could emerge as a strong alternative force in Oyo State politics ahead of 2027.
