‘I’ll Make You Scapegoat If You Block Our Gates’ – Wike Warns FCTA Workers
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a stern warning to workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), cautioning them against blocking the gates of the FCT Secretariat during protests or industrial actions.
According to Daily Post, Wike made the remark on Monday while addressing staff at the FCT headquarters in Abuja, following reports of plans by some workers to restrict access to the complex over unresolved labour issues.
Firm Stance on Protests
Wike said while workers have the right to express grievances, disrupting government operations or preventing access to public offices would not be tolerated.
“I will make you a scapegoat if you block our gates,” the minister reportedly said, warning that anyone found obstructing official activities would face disciplinary measures.
Call for Dialogue
The former Rivers State governor urged aggrieved workers to embrace dialogue and proper channels of engagement, rather than actions that could inconvenience residents and disrupt the delivery of public services in the nation’s capital.
He stressed that the FCTA leadership remains open to discussions aimed at resolving staff concerns but insisted that law and order must be maintained within government premises.

The warning comes amid tensions between some FCTA workers and the administration over issues related to welfare, promotions, and other workplace concerns. Labour unions have in recent weeks threatened protests and sit-ins to press home their demands.
