The decision of the Executive Chairman of Saki West Local Government, Hon. Gbenga Akinola, to relieve the Secretary of the Local Government, Hon. Kolade Felix Ojo, of his position did not come as a surprise to keen observers of Oyo State politics.

They thought ACCORD will be business as usual and its increasing influence and the expanding footprint of ACCORD have clearly unsettled the old political order that thrives on control rather than competition.
Let it be clearly stated: Prince Kolade Ojo was not merely a Secretary of the local government. He played a pivotal role in the emergence of Governor Seyi Makinde’s second term. ACCORD, like other political parties, entered into a working alliance with the Seyi Makinde–led administration based on prevailing political agreements and mutual understanding at the time.
What is playing out now is the aftermath of a political reality check. Governor Seyi Makinde has come to the realization that his grip on absolute political control in Oyo State is no longer assured. The political terrain has shifted, and the old assumptions no longer apply.
