Aborisade Salutes Women on International Women’s Day, Urges Greater Political Participation
A gubernatorial Aspirant of the ADC, United Kingdom–based legal practitioner and Mogaji of Ajagba Compound, Oke-Offa Babasale in Ibadan, Bar. Niyi Aborisade, has celebrated women across Nigeria and beyond on the occasion of International Women’s Day, urging them to take more active roles in politics and leadership.
Aborisade, who is also a governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State, described women as powerful agents of unity whose influence in society and at the ballot box cannot be ignored.
In a message commemorating the global celebration of women, the Ibadan-born politician acknowledged the sacrifices, resilience, and leadership qualities women bring into homes, communities, and national development.
According to him, women represent one of the largest and most decisive voting blocs in Nigeria’s electoral landscape, stressing that their collective voice has the potential to shape the direction of governance if effectively mobilized.
He noted that beyond their roles as mothers and community builders, women have consistently demonstrated capacity in public service, business, education, and governance, urging them to translate that strength into active political participation.
Aborisade particularly encouraged women to seize the moment by getting involved in party activities, voter mobilization, and policy conversations that affect their future and that of the next generation.
The ADC chieftain also called on women to key into the ongoing membership drive of the party, noting that inclusive political participation remains essential for strengthening democracy and ensuring that governance reflects the aspirations of all segments of society.
He said women’s natural ability to build consensus, foster peace, and unite diverse interests makes them indispensable in political leadership and conflict resolution.
“As unifiers in families and communities, women possess the moral authority and organizational strength needed to reshape the political space. Their participation is not just important; it is necessary for a more balanced and people-oriented governance,” he said.
Aborisade further urged young women and professionals to see politics as a legitimate platform for service rather than a space reserved only for a few, adding that Nigeria’s democratic future will be stronger when more women occupy decision-making positions.
He concluded by reaffirming his commitment to policies and political reforms that promote inclusion, equal opportunity, and greater representation for women in governance.
The Mogaji also commended women in Oyo State for their resilience, enterprise, and continuous contributions to community development, encouraging them to remain steadfast in their pursuit of leadership and social impact.
