BREAKING: El-Rufai Returns to Court Days After Mother’s Burial
Former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to court in Kaduna State shortly after attending the burial of his late mother.
El-Rufai appeared before the Kaduna State High Court on Tuesday for the continuation of legal proceedings, including the hearing of his bail application.
The former governor had earlier been granted temporary release by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on compassionate grounds to attend the funeral rites of his mother.
Back to Legal Battle
El-Rufai is facing multiple charges, including:
- Alleged fraud
- Abuse of office
- Money laundering
- Possession and conversion of public property
He had spent over a month in detention before his temporary release, with the court previously fixing March 31, 2026 for the hearing of pending applications, including his bail request.
What Happens Next
Reports indicate that after appearing at the state high court, he may also proceed to the federal high court for further proceedings on his bail application.
The case continues to draw national attention, as legal and political observers closely monitor developments surrounding one of Nigeria’s most prominent political figures.
