Crackdown Warning: Lagos CP Threatens to Disband Task Force Over Rights Abuse

The Commissioner of Police in Lagos State has issued a stern warning against human rights violations, threatening to disband any task force found guilty of abusing citizens.

The police boss emphasised that maintaining law and order must not come at the expense of fundamental human rights, stressing that officers must operate within the confines of the law.

According to the command, any personnel or unit implicated in misconduct, extortion, or harassment of residents will face strict disciplinary action, including possible dissolution of the offending task force.

The move comes amid growing concerns from residents over alleged excesses by enforcement teams operating across parts of the state.

The Nigeria Police Force reiterated its commitment to professionalism and accountability, assuring the public that mechanisms are in place to address complaints against officers.

Residents have been encouraged to report cases of abuse, as authorities seek to rebuild trust and strengthen police-community relations in Nigeria.

The warning is seen as part of broader efforts to promote responsible policing and protect citizens’ rights.
