Oyo 2027: Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina Advocates “Consolidation and Correction,” Promises People-Centred Governance
An All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant for the 2027 election in Oyo State, Dr. Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina, has outlined his vision for the state, emphasizing a dual approach of consolidation and correction in governance.
Speaking on The Poliscope with Samson Balogun, the flagship political programme on Dominion Television, Ibadan,Dr. Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina stated that Oyo State requires both continuity in ongoing developmental strides and strategic reforms to address existing gaps.
According to him, his administration, if elected, would prioritize a people-centred approach, with a strong focus on grassroots development through full local government autonomy.
“Oyo State needs both consolidation and correction. Governance must be people-driven, and development must reach the grassroots. That is why local government autonomy is key,” he said.
The aspirant also pledged to sustain and expand ongoing road construction projects across the state, while ensuring prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries. He noted that consistent salary payments would stimulate the micro-economy and improve livelihoods.
On security,Dr. Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina assured residents of improved safety measures, stressing that protecting lives and property would remain a top priority of his administration.
Addressing questions on his lineage, he acknowledged the legacy of his late father, Former governor of Oyo State Alhaji Lam-Adesina, stating that his governance blueprint would be a blend of inherited values and his own modern ideas.
“It’s not about replicating the past, but building on it. My blueprint will reflect both my father’s legacy and my personal vision for a greater Oyo State,” he said.
He also dismissed allegations of candidate imposition within the APC, insisting that the party would provide a level playing field for all aspirants.
“There will be no hand-picking of candidates. The process will be fair, transparent, and democratic,” he added.
Dr. Ayobami Wasiu Lam-Adesina further highlighted his international exposure, revealing that his experience living and working abroad would be instrumental in developing a world-class healthcare system in Oyo State.
“We can build a healthcare system that rivals the best globally. My exposure gives me the insight to make that happen,” he said.
He also revealed plans to collaborate with governors across the South-West region to revive the DAWN Commission, describing it as a critical institution and shared heritage of the Yoruba people that must be repositioned for regional development.
According to him, strengthening the commission would enhance economic integration, policy coordination, and collective growth among South-West states.
The APC aspirant’s remarks come amid growing political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship race in Oyo State.
