Israel-Iran War Could Expand Beyond Region, Security Expert Warns
The escalating conflict between Israel, Iran and allied forces may not remain confined to the Middle East, a security expert has warned, as military actions widen and draw in regional proxies and global powers.
The warning comes amid intense air and missile strikes following a joint U.S.-Israeli offensive against Iranian targets that reportedly killed Iran’s Supreme Leader and key commanders, triggering retaliatory attacks across the region.
According to analysts, the conflict has already spread beyond direct Iran-Israel engagements, with allied groups such as Hezbollah launching attacks from Lebanon and Iran-aligned militias operating in Iraq and Syria. Continued escalation, they say, could draw in more actors and risk involving neighbouring states.
“This is not just a bilateral confrontation. The expert said that even without formal declarations of war by other states, indirect participation through allied groups could further destabilise the region.
Recent reports show that airspace closures and flight cancellations have hit major airports across the Middle East, affecting global travel and underscoring the wider consequences of the conflict.
Other analysts also point to the economic fallout, with global oil markets reacting sharply to the hostilities as key routes such as the Strait of Hormuz come under threat, and warnings that the repercussions may extend to markets and economies far beyond the region.
