Major Police Shake-Up: PSC Promotes Lagos, FCT CPs and 11 Others to AIG
The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 13 Commissioners of Police, including those serving in Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory, to the rank of Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG).
The elevation is part of a major restructuring within the Nigeria Police Force aimed at strengthening leadership and improving operational efficiency across commands.
Among those promoted are the Commissioners of Police overseeing security operations in Lagos State and the Federal Capital Territory, both of whom have played key roles in maintaining law and order in their jurisdictions.
Officials say the promotion followed recommendations and evaluations conducted by the police authorities and subsequently approved by the PSC.
Security analysts believe the elevation of the officers could enhance strategic command within the police hierarchy and improve coordination in tackling crime across Nigeria.
The development is expected to lead to further postings and redeployments within the police structure as the newly promoted officers assume their roles as Assistant Inspectors-General of Police.
