Tinubu Has Already Lost 2027 Presidential Election – Aisha Yesufu
Human rights activist and co-convener of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, Aisha Yesufu, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has already lost the 2027 presidential election despite the poll being more than a year away.
Yesufu made the remark while reacting to the current political climate in Nigeria, arguing that growing public dissatisfaction with governance could significantly affect Tinubu’s chances of securing a second term.
According to her, the political momentum ahead of the next general elections suggests that defeating the incumbent president would be easier than it was during the 2023 Nigerian presidential election.
The activist urged Nigerians not to wait for political elites to determine the country’s future but to become more involved in the democratic process, stressing that citizens must take responsibility for the leadership they elect.
Her comments come amid increasing political discussions and strategic alignments among opposition figures ahead of the 2027 Nigerian general election, where Tinubu is widely expected to seek re-election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
However, supporters of the ruling party have dismissed the claim as premature, insisting that it is too early to predict the outcome of an election that is still years away.
Political analysts say the statement reflects the growing intensity of political discourse in Nigeria as parties and interest groups begin early preparations for what is expected to be a fiercely contested 2027 presidential race.
