Tinubu Speaks as UK Telecom Giant Launches Operations in Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has welcomed the entry of a United Kingdom–based telecommunications company into Nigeria, describing the development as a strong vote of confidence in the country’s economic reforms.
Speaking at the official launch event in Abuja, Tinubu said the arrival of the UK telecom giant signals growing international trust in Nigeria’s investment climate.
The President reiterated his administration’s commitment to creating a stable and business-friendly environment, stressing that ongoing reforms in the fiscal and digital sectors are designed to attract foreign direct investment and expand opportunities for Nigerians.
“This investment reflects confidence in our policies and our people. Nigeria remains open for business,” Tinubu said.
He noted that the expansion of telecommunications infrastructure would boost digital inclusion, enhance connectivity, and create employment opportunities, particularly for young Nigerians.
According to him, the Federal Government will continue to support innovations that drive economic diversification and technological advancement.
The UK firm is expected to roll out services across major cities in the coming months, with plans to invest in broadband infrastructure, data services, and enterprise solutions.
Industry stakeholders at the event described the launch as a significant milestone for Nigeria’s telecommunications sector, which remains one of the fastest-growing segments of the economy.
They expressed optimism that increased competition would improve service delivery, reduce costs, and expand network coverage nationwide.
