BREAKING: ADC Declares INEC ‘Untrustworthy’, Demands Sack of Chairman Amupitan
The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the immediate removal of Joash Amupitan, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of acting unlawfully.
Speaking at a press briefing, the party’s National Chairman, David Mark, said the commission’s decision to de-recognise the party’s leadership has eroded public confidence in the electoral body.
He described INEC’s actions as unconstitutional and politically motivated, insisting that the commission can no longer be trusted to conduct free and fair elections.
The ADC leadership demanded the immediate sack of Amupitan, warning that failure to address the situation could deepen political tensions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the party, the move by INEC undermines democratic principles and threatens the credibility of Nigeria’s electoral process.
Political observers say the development marks a significant escalation in the standoff between the opposition party and the electoral umpire in Nigeria.
The commission is yet to issue an official response to the allegations.
