CCII Rolls Out Full Programme for 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, Promises Tight Security
The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has unveiled a comprehensive lineup of activities for the 2026 Ibadan Cultural Festival, pledging a grander and more inclusive celebration of the city’s rich heritage.
Addressing journalists at a press briefing, CCII President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, traced the evolution of the festival from its origin in 1984. He noted that what began as “Ibadan Day” has since expanded into “Ibadan Week” and now the Ibadan Cultural Festival, reflecting its growing scope and cultural significance.
Ajewole explained that the festival aims to project Ibadan’s culture, cuisine, fashion, and historical legacy to a global audience, while strengthening unity among indigenes both at home and in the diaspora.
He announced that the 2026 planning committee will be chaired by Moshood Akere, adding that new activities have been introduced to deepen engagement and foster stronger ties among the over 200 affiliate clubs under CCII across Nigeria and abroad.
The CCII boss emphasized that participation is not limited to indigenes alone, encouraging residents of Ibadan to actively take part in the festivities.
Also speaking, Mogaji Akere assured residents and visitors of adequate security arrangements, noting that all necessary measures have been put in place to guarantee a safe and hitch-free celebration.
The grand finale is expected to attract high-profile dignitaries, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde. Other notable personalities to be honoured include George Akume, Ishaq Oloyede, Senator Abdulfatai Buhari, and Adesola Ajayi.

- April 17: Medical Outreach & Palliative Distribution
- April 18: Grand Finale
- April 19: Thanksgiving Service
The grand finale will take place at the Lekan Salami Stadium, while the thanksgiving service is scheduled for St. Peter’s Church.
