Foremost senatorial aspirant Oyo central senatorial district of the All progressives Congress APC, Bar Wakil Oyeleru Oyedemi has shown concern over the continuous and incessant closure of Nigerian universities even at the time when election is around the corner.
It is no longer news that the Academic staff union of universities ASUU has been on strike for weeks, despite all interventions and deliberations it has ended in stalemate.
In a post on his social media handle, he stated that the strike remains at the top of his mind and he is ultimately unhappy about it.
ASUU STRIKE ON MY MIND
We are in the thick of elections season. I can’t lie to you, I am deeply involved. Yet, despite the excitement of this season, I feel deeply saddened that Nigerian Universities and closed simply because of lecturers’ strike over basic demands. There is no free moment I don’t think about this despite my crazy schedule.
I know no other nation in which it’s elites and ordinary citizens pretend as if nothing is wrong when its future is on lockdown. Despite the invasion in Ukraine, many schools still operate, either physically or over the internet - because the future cannot wait.
My friends, nkan nse Nigeria. Let’s all think about this. More reason right thinking individuals cannot stand akimbo and watch Nigeria degenerate further.
May God uplift Nigeria !!!
