Labour party's gubernatorial candidate for the 2019 general election Sodiq Adigun Atayese FCA has debunked the rumour going round town that members of the party in 25 local governments had decamped to APC. In a press release on his Facebook page, he described the incident as mere rumours.
RE: Oyo- Folarin declares 2023 guber ambition as senator Balogun, Labour Party members in 25 LGAs decamp to APC
I read in the news (opera news) about a tea party that took place somewhere in Oke ado, Ibadan on Tuesday 10th of May 2022. AT the party attended by some honorary members of theatre arts practitioners, a declaration was made to the effect that Labour party has collapsed into APC in Oyo State.
This is a figment of imagination of some unscrupulous politicians that have lost their political values and are on a do or die mission to redeem their battered personalities and deflated egos. It is sakamanje of the highest degree and a semblance of the kind of governance and representation we should expect from them. Leadership connotes honour in the first instance and I challenge the honours of those that championed the movement of Labour party members into APC yesterday to mention just 3 names of such decampees.
It is on record that Labour Party (LP) is the party of the people and it belong to the people. Labour party is the refuge of the deprived, a home for all. Is it these same people that the politicians in both APC and PDP has neglected in the last 16 years that they are saying have decamped into their party? How can? Is it to ensure that the people’s suffering should continue that they decamped from their home into slavery? Never.
Even though, these set of politicians have torn the umbrella covering the people and exposed them to hot sun in the past and are now ready to beat the people with the broom, the people can no longer be deceived as they have grown wiser beyond their chief tormentors understanding. The people have decided against continuing pauperisation and will resist it with the ballots.
Labour party remains resolute at restoring dignity to the people and no amount of intimidation would deter us in ensuring that the people get a government that is responsive to their well-being and not the kind of governance for the few that we have been having in Oyo state in the years past.
Labour party is growing day by day and has structure in all the 33 local governments in Oyo State. The party is been positioned as the right choice party for the electorates. The electorates should open their eyes to understand the antics of these self-centered politicians and vote against them in the next elections.
However, If the slave drivers in political garbs are in anyway conscious of the strength of Labour party, they are welcomed as trainees in our school for good governance and we shall not hold back our philosophy that “the ultimate goal of good governance is the well-being of the people.”
- Atayese Tunji Sadiq – Chairman Oyo State Labour Party.
