Man Returns Home After 40 Years Abroad with Only a Walking Stick
Samuel Abuga, a 93-year-old man, has returned to his village of Masabo in Kisii county after four decades of being away in search of a better life.
Abuga left home at 40 and was believed to be dead by his family, who had lost contact with him during the Mau Mau war.
To their surprise, he reappeared after all these years.
The villagers of Masabo warmly welcomed Abuga with a red carpet and celebrations. A small piece of land had been reserved for him by his family, and his grandson was sent to bring him back from Makueni. It was an emotional reunion as family members reconnected with their long-lost relative.
Abuga's whereabouts remained unknown during his absence, leading his family to assume he had been killed. Nevertheless, they set aside land for him in case he returned.
Recently, they received information that Abuga was living in Makueni, prompting his family to bring him back to his rightful home. His grandson, Enock Abuga, was sent to find him, and together with the area chief, they confirmed his identity and family background.
Upon arriving in Kisii, preparations began for Abuga's homecoming. His return brought joy to his granddaughter, who had only heard stories about her long-lost uncle and had never seen a photo of him.
During his time away, Abuga had been married three times but divorced all of his wives. According to reports, he came back home without a family, carrying only a walking stick.
Abuga explained that he had traveled to different places in search of better opportunities before finally settling in Makueni.
