CSU: I will not be silenced, and I will test the laws if NBC fails to retract what it released – Dele Farotimi
Dele Farotimi, a popular Nigerian lawyer and the spokesperson for the Obi-Datti campaign organization has said that he will not succumb to threats issued by the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC).
This statement follows the recent warning from the NBC, cautioning the human rights lawyer to be mindful of his statements in the media, particularly in a recent interview with Arise TV where he discussed Bola Tinubu's certificate controversy.
In response to these developments, Farotimi took to YouTube to disclose his unwavering commitment to freedom of expression and to state that he will not be silenced by any threats. He asserted that if any harm were to befall him, Nigerians should be aware of who is responsible. He recounted a previous incident where he had reported certain individuals to the police due to threats against his life, particularly in relation to his knowledge of certain activities in Lagos. Regrettably, no action had been taken by law enforcement in response to these reports.
He said; "My position is very clear: I will not be silenced, and I will test the laws if NBC fails to retract what it released in the public space presuming to label a dog a bad name so that it will hang it. I do not expect any better from them this time but let nobody be in any doubt, if anything untoward should happen to me, you know who to look to. I am not going to be silenced."
