Tension gripped the Oyo Government Secretariat over the weekend as a group of masked individuals staged an incursion into the premises.
These armed individuals strategically positioned themselves at various key locations within the secretariat. Some were reported to be guarding the entrance to the Governor's office gate, while others were stationed at the entrance to the House of Assembly Gate, with additional individuals positioned at the main entrance.
As of the time of this report, the identities of the masked intruders remained unknown.
Law enforcement officers and other anti-crime units swiftly responded to the scene, arriving in several patrol vehicles. The Oyo Security Network (Amotekun) also mobilized its personnel to the location.
The situation at the Secretariat grew tense, with reports of a skirmish between the security forces and the intruders. Tear gas was deployed, causing unrest among nearby residents, leading to motorists rerouting and road users seeking safety.
As chaos ensued, drivers on the affected route redirected their paths, avoiding the area around the Secretariat. The road leading to the Secretariat-Queen Elizabeth Road was congested, prompting some commuters to find alternative routes through Customs Junction.
