‘I’ll not allow anyone to cause crisis over Olubadan stool’ – Makinde

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has ensured that he will not permit any individual to instigate turmoil regarding the Olubadan throne.

In a statement on Wednesday, Makinde cautioned those spreading discord over the issue to cease their actions.

The position of Olubadan is currently without an occupant following the passing of the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Mahood Olalekan Balogun.
Reports indicate that there is a simmering conflict among the kingmakers who form part of the Olubadan-In-Council.

Despite this, Makinde has reiterated his commitment to preventing any disturbances over the matter.

These remarks were made by Makinde during a meeting at his Ikolaba residence, attended by his deputy, Bayo Lawal, and other Muslim officials after the Eid-Fitr prayer.

"Many have been discussing the Ibadan Chieftaincy System, claiming it is flawed and so forth. However, the Obas-in-Council are yet to finalize their nomination. When they do, it will come to me for confirmation. But that stage has not arrived. So, why are people fixating on issues that could drive us apart?
“People who thrive on creating divisions should search for a different pursuit. Instead, they should focus on endeavors that foster unity,” Makinde emphasized.
