Lagos court convicts cosmetic surgeon, Adepoju over client’s death
The Federal High Court in Lagos State has found a medical doctor and founder of MedContour Services Ltd., Dr. Anuoluwapo Adepoju, guilty for performing a botched plastic surgery that led to the death of Nneka Onwuzuligbo in 2020, as reported by FIJ.
Former Director-General of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, Babatunde Irukera, revealed this information on Friday.
In a tweet, Irukera, using the handle #TundeIrukera, expressed his satisfaction with the outcome: "I am proud that I personally prosecuted Anu Adepoju and her medical practice. Even after my departure, the case concluded with a conviction, reinforcing accountability for all members of society, whether professionals or not. This is how a healthy society should operate and evolve.
"Dr. Anu Adepoju and her medical practice have been found guilty on all 5 charges brought by the FCCPC. Justice might move slowly, but it must be pursued relentlessly. We must boldly enforce what is necessary and demonstrate the commitment to prosecute competently and conscientiously. A positive day for consumers of professional services."
