Today at the induction of the University of Ilorin Advocates, I honoured the memories of our darling lecturer, Late Dr. Ibikunle Anibijuwon with a pledge of #500,000 support to his family as we continue to console ourselves with his good deeds.
Dr. Anibijuwon served as my Bsc project supervisor and was a testament to divine help. His support financially, psychologically, and endless prayers when I lost my sponsor and couldn't put a pen to paper during my final semester exams gave me hope even during my traumatic extra year. Not forgetting the role he played to ensure I completed my project because he saw what I never saw even in myself.
I can only console myself with reminiscence of our last days. He saw me begin the journey of climbing ladders, and I still remember my visit when I became Special Assistant to the Kwara State Governor. He almost took me around the university to see all lecturers that indeed he saw the future.
He stands as a symbol that teachers/lecturers are indeed parents to their students, and we still have good examples among the living and those called to glory.
May his soul continue to rest in peace.
