A coalition under the banner of the Alliance for All Labour Party Stakeholders and Professionals has accused the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of employing desperate tactics to undermine Mr. Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
In a statement issued by the coalition’s convener, Dr. Blessing Elaigwu, the group expressed outrage over what it termed "coordinated attacks" on Obi’s character. Specifically, they condemned recent comments made by APC National Spokesperson Mr. Felix Morka during a televised interview.
“The refusal of Mr. Morka to offer an apology for his remarks, despite multiple opportunities from the program anchor, underscores the ruling party’s apprehension over Obi’s rising influence,” said Elaigwu.
The coalition argued that the attacks are part of a calculated attempt to discredit Obi and discourage him from contesting in the 2027 elections. Dr. Elaigwu described the APC’s actions as reflective of fear and desperation, citing Obi’s continued popularity among Nigerians as a source of concern for the ruling party.
