Breaking News: Ozigbo Rejects APC Guber Primary, Labels It 'Theft Against Ndi Anambra'
A leading aspirant in the race for Anambra State's governorship under the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Valentine Ozigbo, has rejected the outcome of the party’s primary election held on April 5, describing the exercise as a “charade” and “a theft against Ndi Anambra.”
In a strongly worded statement released Tuesday, Ozigbo condemned the process that produced Mr. Nicholas Ukachukwu as the APC’s flag-bearer for the November 8 gubernatorial poll, asserting that it was riddled with fraud, irregularities, and violations of democratic principles.
“That exercise, by all observable standards, was a charade — a well-orchestrated heist designed to deliver a predetermined outcome,” Ozigbo stated.
According to him, a formal petition has already been submitted to the APC Gubernatorial Primary Appeals Committee, in which he outlined allegations of voter manipulation, exclusion of delegates, and a lack of transparency in vote counting.
Ozigbo, who only joined the APC in February 2025 after previous stints in the Labour Party and the PDP—under which he contested the 2021 governorship election—emphasised that his protest is about principles, not personal ambition.
“This is not just about me. It is about the soul of our democracy… a fraud against me, yes — but more importantly, a theft against Ndi Anambra.”
Despite the controversy, Ozigbo made it clear he has no intention of leaving the party, pledging instead to remain within the APC and push for justice.
“I will not be distracted. I will not run to the Senate, nor will I pivot to another political opportunity for the sake of ambition. I will stand firm, here, in the APC, and I will fight this good fight to its just end.”
He described the primary as a defining moment, not just for Anambra but for the integrity of the APC and the future of Nigeria’s democracy.
Rejecting what he termed “political expediency,” Ozigbo stressed that his political journey has always been driven by service and not a quest for power.
“I am not a transactional politician. I seek office to make a difference — to restore dignity, create jobs, secure lives, and light a path for the next generation.”
In a direct appeal to the APC national leadership, Ozigbo urged the party to “right this wrong” before it’s too late.
“The future cannot be bribed or bullied. The people are watching. History is recording.”
