2027: Atiku Reportedly Offers Peter Obi Vice Presidential Slot in Single-Term Deal
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is said to have proposed a political alliance with Labour Party’s Peter Obi for the 2027 presidential election, offering him the vice presidential slot on the condition that Atiku serves only one term.
Multiple insider sources reveal that this proposal was initially discussed during a private meeting between the two politicians in the UK earlier this year. Obi, who was Atiku’s running mate in 2019 under the PDP, is reportedly open to the idea but is consulting with his loyalists before committing fully.
The potential alliance is part of broader efforts to build a united opposition coalition against President Bola Tinubu. Atiku, Obi, and other political figures such as Nasir El-Rufai have already announced plans to collaborate. However, internal crises within both PDP and LP have complicated the process, prompting them to consider alternative platforms like the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
