Breaking News: APC Governors Endorse Tinubu for Second Term at National Summit
Governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s sole candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
The unanimous endorsement was announced during the APC National Summit held on Thursday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja. The decision was led by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, who also serves as the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF).
Governor Uzodimma moved the motion endorsing President Tinubu for reelection, which was seconded by Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. The proposal was subsequently put to a voice vote and received an overwhelming “yes” from the gathering of party leaders and stakeholders.
“We, the governors of the APC, have resolved and agreed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu remains the party’s best choice for 2027. His leadership has brought significant strides, and we believe continuity is key,” Governor Uzodimma declared.
Although President Tinubu is still in the middle of his first term, political discussions surrounding the 2027 election have gained momentum within the ruling party.
In a related development, APC governors and key stakeholders from the North Central region have also publicly declared support for President Tinubu’s reelection. At a strategic meeting held in Abuja on Wednesday, five APC governors from the region, alongside senior party figures, reaffirmed their loyalty to the President and his leadership vision.
The motion for endorsement at the North Central gathering was formally moved by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, who praised the Tinubu administration’s progress in national development, economic reforms, and infrastructural growth.
“The achievements under President Tinubu’s administration are evident, and we are committed to ensuring that this progress continues beyond 2027,” Akume said.
The early declaration of support by APC governors signals a strong internal party consensus and sets the tone for the build-up to the next presidential election cycle.
