I Killed Hafsoh for Money Rituals — Abdulrahman Bello Confesses in Court
The gruesome murder trial of Hafsoh Lawal continued on Wednesday at a Kwara State High Court as the main suspect, Abdulrahman Bello, confessed in court through video evidence that he killed the victim to harvest her hands for money rituals. Bello admitted that he acted alone and would have avoided the killing if he had known another way to obtain human body parts for his ritual plans.
During the court session, Inspector Ayodele Azeez of the State CID testified as a key witness, detailing the investigative process. He confirmed that several incriminating items were found in Bello’s possession, including charms, an axe, cutlass, containers of blood, and both hands of the deceased. Azeez explained that a legally admissible statement had been obtained from Bello, in the presence of his lawyer, Barr. A.O. Ahmed, and was recorded both in writing and on video. Justice Hannah Olushola Ajayi admitted the video as an exhibit and ordered it to be played in court.
Inspector Azeez further revealed that phone records linked Bello to his co-defendants, who were all tracked and arrested. Among them were his former teacher, classmate, and close friends. While searches on their homes yielded no incriminating evidence, their connections to the suspect added weight to the ongoing investigation. The court adjourned the session at 11:32 a.m. for recess, with proceedings expected to resume later in the day.
