Breaking News: FG Declares June 6 & 9 Public Holidays for Eid-ul-Adha, Urges Prayers for National Unity

The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to mark the celebration of this year’s Eid-ul-Adha.

The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the Federal Government. In a statement released by the Ministry of Interior and signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the minister extended heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim Ummah both in Nigeria and across the world.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged Muslims to embody the values of sacrifice, obedience, and unwavering faith, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon Him). He also encouraged Nigerians to use the period to offer prayers for peace and prosperity in the country.

“Let us use this solemn period to pray for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria,” the statement read.

The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to national development, noting that ongoing reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are strategically aimed at steering Nigeria back on the path of sustainable growth.

Wishing Muslims a joyous Eid celebration, Dr. Tunji-Ojo called on all citizens, regardless of faith or ethnicity, to support the federal government’s efforts in rebuilding the nation.

“Let us join hands to restore the glory of Nigeria as a great nation,” he said.
