Hon. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi Mourns the Passing of Ambassador Ibironke Adefope
Former Ward 12 Councilor and Ibadan North Federal House of Representatives hopeful, Hon. Matthew Alani Oyeniyi, has joined other prominent voices in Oyo State to mourn the passing of Ambassador Ibironke Adefope, describing her death as a profound loss to the state and the nation at large.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Hon. Oyeniyi paid glowing tribute to the late diplomat and stateswoman, hailing her as a woman of substance, integrity, and exceptional public service.
“Mama Ibironke Adefope was not only a highly respected envoy and elder stateswoman, she was a torchbearer of grace, wisdom, and strength,” he said.
“Her departure is a great loss, not just to her immediate family and the Oyo State Elders’ Council, but to all of us who were fortunate to witness her remarkable journey.”
Ambassador Adefope, who served as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to Zambia and was an active member of the Oyo State Elders’ Council, passed away recently after decades of distinguished service to her country and her community.
She was also a direct descendant of two prominent Nigerian families, the Akinloyes and the Vaughans.
Hon. Oyeniyi noted that her life was a shining example of leadership rooted in humility, responsibility, and purpose.
“She sustained the great legacy of her forebears and carved her own place in history with her contributions to governance, diplomacy, and community development,” he added.
“Her voice was one of calm and wisdom, and her advice was a source of strength to many of us in public service.”
He extended his condolences to the Akinloye and Vaughan families, the Oyo State Elders’ Council, and all who were touched by her life and leadership.
“May her soul rest in perfect peace,” he concluded.
“And may her memory continue to inspire us all toward a more just, compassionate, and united society.”
