Breaking News: Babachir Lawal Dumps APC, Says He'll Join New Platform to Rescue Nigeria
Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, has officially resigned from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), marking a significant political shift ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to Naija News and confirmed by Reporters, Lawal submitted his resignation to the APC chairman in Bangshika Ward, Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
In a personally signed statement, the ex-SGF declared:
“I write to formally notify you of my resignation from the All Progressives Congress, APC.”
While he did not immediately reveal his next political destination, Lawal hinted that an announcement would follow soon.
“In due course, I will make public my current political affiliation, where I plan to join compatriots to work towards making Nigeria a better living place for all citizens. This resignation takes immediate effect,” he stated.
Babachir Lawal, a prominent northern politician and vocal critic of certain decisions within the APC in recent years, has been at odds with the party leadership since after the 2023 general elections, especially over issues of fairness, inclusiveness, and national unity.
His exit is expected to stir political realignments, especially in Adamawa State and the northern region at large.
