Breaking News: Sanwo-Olu Votes in Lagos LG Poll, Commends LASIEC Despite Low Voter Turnout
Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and his wife, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, cast their votes today during the ongoing local government elections in the state.
The couple arrived at their Ward E3, Polling Unit 006, located at St. Stephen’s Primary School on Lagos Island, at approximately 11:06 a.m. and completed the voting process around 11:10 a.m.
Speaking after casting his vote, Governor Sanwo-Olu praised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for what he described as a commendable effort in organizing the elections, despite a few logistical hiccups.
“I’ve received positive feedback from across the state. While there were some minor issues, LASIEC has done a good job overall,” the governor said.
However, the low turnout remained a concern. Of the 634 registered voters expected at the governor’s polling unit, fewer than 50 had shown up to vote as of the time he voted. This trend reflects widespread voter apathy observed in many parts of the state.
Sanwo-Olu added that voting materials arrived early in most locations, though some experienced slight delays.
