Breaking: K1 De Ultimate Breaks Silence, Apologises Over Airport Incident — Says Flask Contained Only Water
Fuji music icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, widely known as K1 De Ultimate, has publicly apologised over the controversial incident that occurred at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja on August 5, 2025.
In a statement personally signed and released on Friday, the veteran musician expressed regret for the uproar the incident caused, clarifying that contrary to public speculation, the flask he carried on the day contained only water not alcohol.
“The incident that occurred at the local wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport was, to say the least, unfortunate,” K1 stated. “Unknown to many, I suffer from chronic dehydration, and my doctor strongly advised that I remain constantly hydrated. This is why I always carry a water flask with me.”
He further explained that the flask was empty during two separate security checks and was only filled with water at the airport lounge before he proceeded to the tarmac. K1 maintained that he had not boarded the aircraft at any point and challenged reports that he was deboarded, suggesting that CCTV footage could verify his claim.
The Fuji maestro extended his apology to the Presidency, the Ministry of Aviation, the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), ValueJet Airline, and the Nigerian public.
“I acknowledge and deeply regret the concerns that arose from the incident. It was never my intention to cause any disruption or violate aviation protocols,” he said. “My unwavering patriotism and loyalty to the Federal Republic of Nigeria have never been in doubt.”
The apology comes days after the NCAA suspended K1 from flying for six months following reports that he resisted routine inspection, acted unruly, and allegedly disrupted flight operations.
K1, who has enjoyed over five decades in the Nigerian music industry, added that he remains committed to his role as a cultural ambassador for Fuji music and thanked his fans for their continued support.
As public debate continues over the incident, many are watching closely to see if regulatory authorities will reconsider the sanctions imposed in light of the musician’s apology and fresh clarifications.
