Breaking News: Outrage as Adhoc Staff Used by LASIEC to Conduct Lagos Council Elections Cry Out Over Unpaid Wages a Month After

Frustration is mounting among ad hoc staff who worked for the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) during the recent local government elections, as many have yet to receive their rightful payments, a month after the polls.

An investigation by Lagos Reporters revealed that some staffers who worked overnight and attended mandatory training sessions have been left unpaid, with only 40 percent of ad hoc staff receiving partial compensation.

One of the affected workers said: “We have not been paid our allowances or training money. The election concluded on July 12, yet we are still waiting for our money. Who is withholding our funds? Are they trying to embezzle it?”

The aggrieved staff are appealing to the Lagos State Governor and relevant authorities to intervene, urging immediate action to ensure all pending payments are made. Justice Mobolanle Abidemi Okikiolu-Ighile, the head of LASIEC, whose office is located in Yaba, is being called upon to address the matter promptly.
